Blackened Catfish with Spicy Slaw

A wonderful catfish dish inspired by our Cajun ancestry

Ingredients
  • 1. 1 pound of catfish fillets or nuggets
  • 2. 3 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 3. 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 4. 3 teaspoons black powder
  • 5. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, extremely softened
  • 6. 2 teaspoons salt
  • 7. 1 package ranch dressing mix
  • 8. 1/2 head of cabbage
  • 9. 1 large carrot. shredded
  • 10. 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 11. 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 12 salt and pepper to taste
Directions
  • Step 1 In a medium bowl mix all dry ingredients until well combined.
  • Step 2 Rub catfish with butter and then dredge in spice mixture.
  • Step 3 Place catfish on a lightly greased skillet. cook about 7-8 minutes on both sides until fish is flaky.
  • Step 4 Slaw:
  • Step 5 In a large mixing bowl combine shredded cabbage, carrot, mayonnaise and cayenne pepper. Mix well add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 6 Serve catfish on top of a spoonful of slaw.
